UHHRU Reports on Fifth National HIV and AIDS Forum for Women

Today, on October 16, 2019, UHHRU reports on Fifth National HIV and AIDS Forum for Women, which is conducted in Kyiv on October 15-17.

It is already fifth Forum conducted by CO “Positive Women”. Every year it gathers about 70 participants – activists working in the sphere of HIV and gender equality, international specialists, lawyers. This year the Forum was joined by the activists from Georgia, Tajikistan, Russia.

The message of this Forum: “We are more than just patients”.

The objective of the forum is activation of women’s role in formation of national policy and strategies regarding relevant measures on counteracting HIV incidence, gender equality and counteracting violence.

For the second year already UHHRU cooperates with Charitable Organization “Positive Women” in the framework of implementation of the project “Development of the legal network for protection of the people living with HIV/AIDS, representatives of key PLHIV communities and persons ill with TB”.

Information of UHHRU network of reception offices

At the moment, free legal support to people living with HIV/AIDS, vulnerable to HIV infection and ill with TB is provided through UHHRU network of reception offices in 13 cities of Ukraine.

Number of applications: from 01.01.2019 till now (15.10.2019) – 357 applications.

International communication (UHHRU cases):

Case of mrs V.

Within the period from January 16, 2019 till February 22, 2019, i.e. for 37 days the applicant was imprisoned without any legal reasons.

UHHRU lawyers carried out pre-trial work. The application to ECHR is prepared for violation of rights envisaged by part 1 of article 5 of the Convention.

Case of mrs K.  

Within the period from January 16, 2019 till January 31, 2019, i.e. during 15 days the applicant was imprisoned without any legal reasons.

Pre-trial case. The application to ECHR is prepared for violation of rights envisaged by part 1 of article 5 of the Convention.

The Order of MoH dated 22.04.2019 No. 933, registered in the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on May 15, 2019 at the No. 506/33477, introduces amendments to the annex 1 of the Procedure of referral women to the first round of infertility treatment with the help of reproductive technologies based on invariable indications at the expense of budget funds. 

The order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (MoH) “On amending the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated August 20, 2008 No. 479 (On approval of the list of diseases with which a person cannot be an adopter)”.

Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union implements the project “Development of the legal network for protection of the people living with HIV/AIDS, representatives of key PLHIV communities and persons ill with TB” with the financial support of the Charitable organization “All-Ukrainian Network of the People Living with HIV/AIDS” in the framework of implementation of the project “Releasing the Burden of TB and HIV infection through creation of the open access to timely and quality diagnostics and treatment of the TB and its resistant forms, expanding evidence based prevention, diagnostic and treatment of HIV infection, and creation of stable and sustainable health protection systems”, which is implemented with the financial support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.
